10 weeks! (38 weeks)...almost there !

Another week down and we truly thought and hoped Cora would be home with us this week.  This has been an emotional journey but I'm finding these recent days and last weeks are some of the hardest being so close to bringing her home.  At the end of last week the doctors were wanting to see more progress with her bottle feeding or else they might have to pursue a different game plan. Luckily, Cora heard them talking and took a big step forward over the weekend.  So much so, they even removed her feeding tube!  I think this was the second time to see her face without anything on it and I just loved it. Those little features, so perfect, so beautiful.

We saw the doctor during our Sunday visit and she told us if Cora continued to do well, we might be able to take her home on Monday.  Monday! That was tomorrow.  You can imagine our excitement but I know too that it wasn't a done deal and it meant Cora would have to get through all her night feedings, so I didn't want to hold my breath.  It's common for the discharge day to be a moving target and things change from one day to the next.  Early that morning when I looked at the video cam, I noticed the tube was back in so my heart sank.  She was too tired to complete her last two feedings but still did more than 50% of those bottles so overall, huge progress for our little peanut!  We have to remember that while we so badly want to her to get there, she has shown us time and time again that she goes at her own pace (something she will constantly remind us in years to come I'm sure)

Cora had other good news too passing her car seat test (they monitor her while sitting in it for an hour and half to make sure she has no breathing episodes).  And her 3rd eye exam also went well and all is looking good for her gestational age.  Hopefully only one more in a couple weeks.

So here we are just waiting...hopefully not too much longer!

This last weekend we decided to do something fun for Joslin and ventured to a local children's museum, Pretend City...such a cute place complete with a pretend world fit for a kid including grocery shop, garden, beach, library, gas station, dentist/doctor office etc.

she may not like eating tomatoes but she sure loved picking them
